Earrings
Hoops, studs, huggies, and half-hoops in 18k gold filled — from everyday essentials to sculpted statement shapes. Every pair is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, which is what makes them wearable for ears that react to most jewelry.
Choosing earrings for sensitive ears, and which shape to start with
If your ears react to jewelry, the culprit is almost always nickel — the most common contact allergen there is. It shows up as an itchy rash rather than a stain, and it is a different problem entirely from the green mark cheap jewelry leaves behind. Nothing here contains nickel, and the gold layer in gold fill is thick enough that the brass core never touches your skin. The full explanation is in does gold-filled jewelry turn your skin green, and the deeper breakdown of nickel allergies versus other reactions is in nickel allergy vs. sensitive skin →. If the metal isn't the issue and it's more about fit, weight or a new piercing, see our buyer's guide to earrings for sensitive ears →
Where to start by shape. Studs are the safe daily pair — pearl, CZ, or a plain ball. Hoops run from 10mm mini huggies to 50mm statement sizes; anything under about 20mm reads as everyday, above that as a deliberate choice. Huggies and clicker hoops hug the lobe and stay put overnight, which makes them the easiest pieces to simply never take off. Drop earrings add movement, and ear cuffs add a second or third point of interest with no extra piercing.
Building an ear stack works like a necklace stack: one anchor piece, then smaller pieces climbing upward. Mixing cubic zirconia with pearl in the same ear is fine — the common thread is the gold.
